jess bays grew up in feltham, out by heathrow, and was djing long enough to pick up a defected residency in 2018 before she took production seriously. beatportal put the start of that studio work around 2020, when the clubs shut and radio was the only door left open.

Obviously the clubs weren't there and everybody was heavily focused on getting radio plays because there was nowhere else we could really flourish in music, so that gave me the opportunity to really make vocal house.

the record that moved everything is Temptation, built with vocalist poppy baskcomb and released on good company records in february 2022. officialcharts.com shows it peaking at number forty on the official independent singles chart and number seven on the official independent singles breakers chart, with eleven weeks logged on the breakers chart between april and july of 2022.

officialcharts.com also carries Real Love with kelli-leigh, which first charted on 30 november 2023 and peaked at seventy seven on the official singles sales chart and seventy three on the official singles downloads chart. she has held radio shows on capital dance, which started on 11 july 2021, and on rinse fm.

she runs her own label, Superstore Records. Go Back with katy alex went out on it on 16 january 2026, and the superstore cutz compilations go straight to her bandcamp. she does not sing on her own records. she writes with the vocalists instead, and the writing credits on Temptation list her alongside poppy baskcomb and hayley may.

three bookings sit ahead of her. she plays the sonido stage at manorfest, at manor park in rothwell, on 30 august 2026, on a bill with marshall jefferson and harry thompson. forward motion runs at uno malta in attard from 24 to 28 september 2026. then the we call it dance weekender at butlin's skegness from 6 november 2026, where the bill also carries CLAPTONE and Low Steppa.
