claptone works behind a golden plague doctor mask and has never handed over a name. his own biography tells an origin story about a bird like shape emerging from wooded darkness wearing a dazzling golden mask, and it gives no country, no city and no person. the project surfaced around 2012 and the mask has stayed on ever since.

the catalogue is long and the shape of it is vocal house. No Eyes with jaw landed in 2013 and pulled everything else along behind it, followed by Cream, Wrong and Heartbeat. three albums came before the current one, Charmer in 2015, Fantast in 2018 and Closer in 2021. remix work has run through gregory porter, mark ronson, elton john and dua lipa, and his elton john remix turned up again on positiva presents elton john the remixes on 24 april 2026.

he started Golden Recordings on 17 march 2023 with an instrumental single called Euphoria, and the label is a proper home for other people rather than a vanity outlet. wh0, kideko, crusy, cassimm, alexander som, lars moston and yolanda be cool have all released through it.

I wanted to find new emotional ground, rather than extending what I have said with my previous albums.

Wanderer arrived on 8 may 2026 through his other imprint, Golden Path Recordings. eleven tracks, almost all of them vocal led, with crystal fighters on Turn Up The Love, raphaella on Phantasy, sea girls on Put Your Love On Me and hannah boleyn on Black & Gold. he finished 2025 at number thirty in dj mag's top 100 djs poll, up two places from the year before.

the masquerade is his event brand, not a label. it ran at pacha and then amnesia in ibiza, taking tuesdays through 17 september in the 2024 season, and it has since moved to chinois. the 2026 season runs saturdays at chinois ibiza with guests including Elderbrook on 5 september, Pete Tong on 19 september and Franky Wah at the closing party on 10 october 2026.

outside ibiza the confirmed 2026 diary is dense. ku barcelona on 2 august, café del mar in malta on 14 august, amok club in mallorca on 15 august, the love to be.. festival at the stray in harrogate on 5 september, a day at the park at kralingse bos in rotterdam on 12 september, pier play at santa monica pier in los angeles on 3 october and the we call it dance weekender at butlin's skegness on 6 november.
