🚧 bumpy denver to los angeles breaks + house

Kris Barman spent five years in a band called innerpartysystem, started wuki in 2011 and moved to denver, where he had a late night radio show. resident advisor and beatport still list him as denver based. his own soundcloud says los angeles now.

his own press description of the sound is booty, breaks, electro and house, with detroit ghettotech and chicago footwork behind it. in november 2019 his remix of miley cyrus's Mother's Daughter was nominated for best remixed recording at the grammys. he did not win, and he was straightforward about what it meant anyway, saying it felt surreal to finally get some recognition after a long time at it.

his first record on this page's terms is older than that: he remixed Kingpin for RL Grime's VOID remix album back in 2015.

The only way for me to do that was to bring it out in my personality. I'm always joking around and I love bouncy, fun music.

Sunshine (My Girl), out on thrive in september 2023, is his biggest by a distance, and SOFI TUKKER remixed it. since then: BIGGY BAP with skrillex in march 2025, Ain't It Fun in may, and Whip It with devo themselves in november. he also runs a mixtape series called beats i can't release, for the edits and bootlegs that cannot clear, which is up to a second volume.

he plays breakaway michigan on friday 14 august, global dance festival in denver on 11 and 12 september, and headlines the bellwether in los angeles on 6 november for a night billed as beats i can't release mixtape no. 3.
